Call For Submissions
Women’s Theatre Festival 2023

WTF (aka Women’s Theatre Festival) 2023 – CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Deadline for entries: March 17, 2023 @ 5pm

The Millibo Art Theatre is seeking submissions of short plays, monologues, films, dance, music, and performance art, by female playwrights and performers currently residing in Colorado.  Submissions should explore this years theme, “TRAVELERS – from here to there”.  We invite you to examine the theme literally, figuratively and metaphorically.

SUBMISSIONS:

  • The Millibo Art Theatre is seeking submissions of short plays, monologues, films, dance, music, and performance art, by female playwrights and artists currently residing in Colorado.
  • Submissions should creatively explore this years theme, “Travelers – from here to there.”
  • There is NO submission fee and NO production fee.
  • The reviewing committee will be members of the Millibo theatre community including board members, directors, and patrons.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: March 17, 2023 @ 5pm

SHOW DATES:  April 13 to 23 – eight performances over two weekends.  Thursday to Saturday @ 7:30 and Sundays @ 2pm.

STAGING:  A festival of new works requires staging that is simple and uncomplicated as pieces are short and move quickly from one setting to the next.  This year we are trying something new and begin, not with a neutral stage, but in a train depot of indeterminate age.  There will be a ticket booth, benches, and doors leading in and out.  We have the capacity to bring signature props and sets onto the stage to create different environments, and clear the stage to allow for full stage dances and movement pieces, but the bones of the stage will remain a train depot.  We hope this inspires you.

PRODUCING COMPANY: Recognized nationally as a company that demonstrates “the quality, diversity, and dynamism of American theatre,” the Millibo creates original, professional theater that challenges, inspires and entertains. The mission of the WTF is to support the many talented women creating theatre and performance art throughout Colorado by giving them a platform for their voices, their truths and their stories.
