Thank you to all of you who responded to our summer camp survey exploring the best way to move forward during the pandemic. There was very high interest from the majority of families in continuing summer camps, and we remain committed to exploring how we can safely engage with your children in camps this summer. The safety and health of your child remains our first priority, and as corona virus guidance continues to evolve, we will follow all guidelines and updates provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Colorado Department for Public Health and Environment for Child Care.
Below are updates on our programs and plans, as we know them currently.
JUNE 2020 Camps – All camps will be presented through a virtual platform.
JULY 2020 Camps – TBD / We are exploring the possibility of offering a number on-site outdoor camps for small groups.
Cancellations and Refunds
You may cancel your reservation for any previously scheduled camps cancelled due to the corona virus. You may choose to receive a refund, make a donation or take a credit to apply to future programming or membership. SUMMER CAMPS/ JUNE 2020
At the Millibo we are passionate about the performing arts! We give our all to creating innovative and imaginative camps that encourage participants to dive-in and explore the endless possibilities of Theatre. This June is no exception and we are excited to share with you some wonderful virtual options.
Sourcing over twenty years of teaching experience, our dedicated teaching staff has developed three virtual camps that are seriously interactive, wildly creative and absolutely loads of FUN! Led by professional working artists, these workshops invite campers on imaginative adventures that get them on their feet, creatively interacting with camp-mates and engaging in new and fun experiences. This IS NOT PASSIVE screen time!
In addition, each camper will receive a SUPER SPECIAL CREATIVE CARE PACKAGE containing all physical items needed for camp as well as optional add-on activities for home play and some lovley surprises.
June 8 – 12 / HOGWARTS – INTO THE FORBIDDEN FOREST
Spend a fun-filled week in the Wizarding World as you help Headmistress Bumble Bee and her team of professors unravel the mysteries of the Forbidden Forest. We’ll solve impossible riddles, learn the language of the Trolls, tell forgotten stories, encounter incredible creatures and master techniques to defend us from “you know who”. (Be prepared to meet a Bowtruckle.)
Grades 1 – 2 ~ 10am to Noon / Grades 3 – 5 ~ 1pm to 3pm /Camp Fee – $110 per week (includes all supplies)
June 15 – 19 / SUPER SECRET SPY ADVENTURES
There are mysteries to be solved and we need your help to unravel the clues, but first you need the training. Will you be more Artemis Fowl, Charlie’s Angel or James Bond? it’s up to you when you go undercover in this fun-filled and super-silly spy camp. Create your very own master agent disguise, invent secret gadgets, break codes and perform undercover stealth maneuvers.

June 22 – 26 – STAR WARS STORIES
Calling all Padawans! Learn the ways of the Jedi and fulfill your destiny as you master the skills of “The Force”. Discover the untold stories of lost galaxies, create your own milky way and master the power of the saber. Our week will require great creativity as we build our own rocket ships, design unique robots, engage with aliens both good and bad and learn the language of the stars.
Grades 1 – 2 ~ 10am to Noon / Grades 3 – 5 ~ 1pm to 3pm /Camp Fee – $110 per week (includes all supplies)
What will my child do during camp?
Over the two hours we will typically work within one to two mediums, meeting both in a large group setting as well as utilizing breakout rooms for age appropriate instruction and interaction with instructors and camp-mates. Theatre exercises, improv games, storytelling challenges, movement activities and hands on art activities engage campers through multiple learning styles and are scheduled to create a dynamic learning environment that will keep kids engaged and energized.
Parents will have access to a detailed schedule outlining each day’s activities and receive a daily end-of-day email with updates on camp activities, student successes and options for at-home add on activities.
How much screen time will my child have?
Camp screen-time is limited to two hours each day. Campers will be on their feet, moving, playing, singing and creating during class.
What type of technology will I need to access virtual camp?
Participation in virtual camp requires an internet enabled device with access to a microphone and camera. This can include a desktop computer, laptop, iPad, tablet, or smartphone.
How will we know how to sign-in to the camp?
Parents and campers are invited to schedule a pre-camp orientation the weekend prior to their camp. Here parents and campers can practise signing-in, learn the basics of screen etiquette, experiment with ways to share their work on Flipgrid and practise moving into a Zoom break-out room. (It’s easier than it sounds!)
What supplies do I need for a virtual camp?
Every camper will receive a Super Special Creative Care Package containing all physical items needed for camp as well as optional add-on activities for home play and some lovely surprises. Packages will be delivered to each camper or can be picked up at the theatre the week prior to camp.
What kind of room set-up will my camper need?
Your camper will be moving and creating during camp and will need access to a cleared area in front of their screen for movement, as well as an area set up for drawing and coloring.
How much will parents need to be involved?
Our goal is to make each session as independent of parent involvement as possible, however, camps will require some parent involvement to be successful. The level of parent involvement varies depending on each child’s age, comfort-level with virtual learning platforms and ability to work independently. To ensure their camper’s success, parents should be ready to:
- Assist with daily log-in to camp
- Distribute materials from the Creative Care Package
- Set-up the camper’s movement and art area before camp
- Stay close at hand to provide support for their camper if needed
- Be available to respond to texts and phone calls during the camp
Can siblings participate together?
Siblings who are enrolled in the same camp may share a computer to attend workshops. Tuition is reduced by 50% for the second camper.
How will instructors communicate with parents if a camper becomes disconnected during the camp session?
Parents will receive a text, phone call and an e-mail from the Millibo staff to communicate any issues regarding their camper’s internet connection or other participation issues.
Does virtual camp include a final performance?
Each camp will include a final sharing on the last camp day. Depending on the age group and camp content, the final sharing may include a live performance on Zoom, pre-recorded scenes or sketches, readings, a Q & A, or a portfolio of work.
