Join the artists of Broken Box Mime for a special evening of performance and process! In SMALL TALK, the cast will present several of their favorite nonverbal narratives, skipping across genres and celebrating the limitless possibilities of physical storytelling. The show will interweave spoken descriptions of how the art was made, offering audiences a look behind the curtain – or beyond the box, as it were. Welcome to mime, redefined!

THE TROUPE
Broken Box Mime Theater (BKBX) is an NYC-based company with members in Chicago and Denver. Founded in 2011, their mission is to activate the imaginations of their audiences, contemporize the art of mime, and “remind us all of the power of simple storytelling.” Learn more at www.brokenboxmime.com.
BKBX’s 19 company members are all professional theater artists; they are diverse in terms of race, gender, sexual orientation, training, background, mental health identity, and writing style. We have graduates of Lecoq training, the Northwestern mime troupe, Meisner, and Georgian-style Synetic Theater Company in D.C. Our members are practitioners of clown, parody, musical theater, and spoken-word poetry; they come from Jamaica, Switzerland, Australia, New York City, and hometowns across the U.S. We work with a resident stage manager, lighting designer, graphic designer, photographer, and filmmaker.
