Ever watched an Improv group and thought to yourself, “I wish I could come up with songs like that on the spot”?
Well, it’s time to give a cappella improv a try!
Instructor Lisa Lynn is an award-winning actor, singer an d improviser, who tours the world performing, teaching & directing. Here for a single night all the way from London!
In this a cappella beginners intensive you will learn how to be the music behind the lyrics; how to underscore any scene; and how to take your musical improv to the next level (even in a power cut!) Work on your beat-boxing, body-percussion, rap, dance, acting and singing; add these to your improv experience – and you have the 7 pillars of Acaprov: The Improvised A Cappella Musical.
This course is best suited to musical improvisers, freestyle rappers and singers who have not yet tried doing it a cappella, and are ready to take the next step. If you love improvising musicals, but are not the most confident singer, worry not, pitching is not essential as non-singers can speak-sing, rap and do percussion to navigate the workshop playing to their strengths. It’s a safe space.
Since graduating with a First Class BA Honours degree in Musical Theatre in 2009 and Performing Arts PGCE in 2013, Lisa has continued to perform, direct and teach. Lisa has produced shows and Acting Masterclasses across the world. She discovered improv in 2015 and is Founder & Director of Acaprov www.acaprov.com (which has a cast of 20); a HOOPLA teacher (The UK’s Number 1 Improv School) and House Team member; a member of Hell Yeah! The Show with Monica Gaga; and a member of the Southend 48 Hour Improvathon which happens annually for a different charity each year, directed by the sensational Ali James of Olivier Award winning – Showstopper! The Improvised Musical. As a director Lisa has directed hundreds of student productions and professionally directed Multiverse, Lesbian Love Story, This is Impro and Not GCSE Drama. She also guest directs new formats across London and internationally.
