STEALING SUGAR

February 6 – 22
Thur – Sat @ 7:30pm ~ Sun @ 2pm

Queennie knows how to do laundry!  Stains, wrinkles and rough edges don’t phase her a bit, but a chance encounter begins a deliciously hilarious and poignant unravelling of her spotless world.  Outrageous tales of dream and fantasy merge with the washing, drying, sorting and folding as Queenie tries to sort out all the clues.  Maurice of the French Resistance, Lady Di, Ingeborg Von Strompf and Agent Double Rinse are only a few of the characters that emerge to guide Queenie on her way in this delightful and very funny sub-urban myth.

Birgitta De Pree stars in this one woman tour de force of insightful comedy and poignant reflections revealing the fables, foibles and symbolic meaning behind one woman’s dirty laundry.

“Birgitta and Jim pulled off another stunner… Enjoyed every touching and funny moment!! ~ Linda Doner Rossetti

“Wow! What an incredible performance! The storyline was moving and I wasn’t always sure where it was going… and that is the genius of a great writer. The final lines of the play, though, brought it all home… and I left the theater with a sense of wonder and awe!” ~ Shawn Cole

“Jenn and I saw Birgitta De Pree’s one-woman show “Stealing Sugar” at The Millibo Art Theatre in Colorado Springs yesterday. Wonderful show! Birgitta brilliantly plays various characters through voice accents and the magical use of articles of clothing. Great movement too. Very funny, and serious in a good way. Excellent vocal and physical theatre. Highly recommended show and the Millibo is a generally cool place to experience.” ~ Peter Davison

“Just saw this wonderful show – don’t miss it! Bravo, Bravo!” ~ Jane Fromme
